A trip to Dubai
Dubai city is located in the north of the emirate of Dubai. The choice of accommodation available in Dubai is enormous. From the world’s most expensive seven star Burj Al Arab hotel to affordable hostel style places. There are hotels at the beach as well as in the city center. A drive from the center to the beach takes about 30-45 min, so you better decide if you prefer sightseeing and shopping over a more relaxed beach holiday in Dubai. Although most hotels have a shuttle service a day between these two main locations.
The people who created the letsgo2 website did a great job collecting all necessary information and provide you with easy booking options for a trip to Dubai. I had a great time discovering the city.
Best time for holidays to Dubai is October to March when temperatures are not too hot.
Surrounded by desert Dubai is an ideal spot to plan a desert safari or for the less adventurous a sunset over sand dunes. You should also plan for extended time in the city with all its skyscrapers, markets and luxury display.
The city is dived by a creek you can easily cross by bridge – or if you like it more traditional using abras, a wooden boat shuttle that leaves as soon as enough passengers are on board. To discover the souks on both sides you probably need two days. One day for the Old Deira Souk, the gold souk and the souk for spices and the old harbor. Spend some time watching them load the old style dhaus by hand. This traditional way of transport is still used to ship goods as far as West India.
The next day visit the historic quarter on the other side of the creek, the oldest architectural sight Al Fahidi Fort built in 1799 with the Dubai Museum to get an idea of the way of life in former days.
And no visit to Dubai is complete without a visit to at least one of the enormous shopping malls.
