France: The Ideal Location for a Camping Holiday

France is home to over 10,000 camping sites, situated all throughout the country, making it an ideal place to take family holidays. Before you chose where you are going to camp, you should truly assess what kind of camping holiday you would like, as different camping sites have different levels of services and amenities.

  • If you are a novice camper, you will want to choose a site that has more services, and possibly one you can drive to. Once you have decided, you can select the camping site that is right for your holiday. Once that is done, you will need to decide what supplies and equipment you will bring with you. If you can drive to the site, you may bring more supplies as you do not have to worry about having to hike them to the site.

The supplies you may need include a sleeping bag, fire starting equipment, a propane stove, a tent, food, water jugs, cooking gear, and a good quality lantern. The first thing every camper needs is a good sleeping bag. However, you must determine which is right for your trip. If you are going during the winter, or in a colder climate, you will want to get a bag designed for that. However, using one of those bags during the summer could make you uncomfortable. The other pieces of equipment are not as specific, but some you may or may not need depending on the facilities of the site. For example, if you are able to drive to the site, a propane stove may be a good idea as it will make cooking easy. However, if that is not the case, you will need equipment to start a fire, such as matches. If there are no shelters you will need to bring a tent. They may or may not be a water supply at the camp ground, so you may need to bring all of your water with you. You will also definitely need to bring all of your food. A lantern is also important, especially at night. You should also bring toilet paper, even if there are facilities at the camp site, you might still need it. Camping is a great family holiday that can be enjoyed by everyone. Just be sure to plan properly in order to select the camping site and the equipment that is right for you.
